Riverside Parks & Five Points Brunch

Start at Forest Street Dog Park, where your dog can play in separate fenced yards for large and small dogs. The suggested route continues to John Gorrie Dog Park for another off-leash run, then to Memorial Park for a leashed walk beside the St. Johns River. If you want more park time, add Riverside Park’s leashed paths around the lake. The loop then brings you back to Forest Street. On the way back, stop for coffee or brunch on the dog-friendly covered patio at Southern Grounds & Co in Brooklyn, on Riverside Avenue. Check patio seating and hours before you go. Kanine Social is a Choice stop for members or day-pass guests.

How this Adventure works - Core stops: Forest Street Dog Park, John Gorrie Dog Park and Memorial Park. - To complete this Adventure, check in near every Core stop and every additional stop you select, all during the same outing. Optional stops you do not select do not block completion. - Southern Grounds & Co, Brooklyn is a recommended brunch stop, Kanine Social is a Choice stop and Riverside Park is a recommended add-on. Each is optional to add; once you add one to your outing, it counts as a stop to check in at. - The journey below shows a suggested loop: Forest Street Dog Park, John Gorrie Dog Park, Memorial Park, then back to Forest Street, with brunch at Southern Grounds in Brooklyn on the way back if you want it. Kanine Social and Riverside Park follow it as optional add-ons. They are not part of the suggested route, so visit the ones you add in whatever order suits you. - Route: a loop that starts and finishes at Forest Street Dog Park. - Distance: about 2.9 miles in total for the loop, riding from Forest Street Dog Park to John Gorrie Dog Park and Memorial Park and back. Brunch at Southern Grounds on the way back adds about 0.2 mile, including the ride on to Forest Street, for about 3.1 miles in all. Riverside Park is a short walk from John Gorrie, and Kanine Social is on the way. Walks inside the parks are not counted in the 2.9 miles. - Battery: make sure your scooter has enough charge for the whole loop and any stops you add, with some to spare. Real range is often less than the rated range, especially in heat or with frequent stops. - Time: plan on 2 to 3 hours for the loop, including park time and breaks, with about 30 minutes of riding. Allow 3 to 4 hours if you add brunch. - Riverside Avenue and parts of College Street, Park Street and Forest Street are busy roads. Choose a way to travel that suits you and your dog. Forest Street Dog Park - Fenced off-leash yards (large and small) with double gates. Open sunrise to sundown. - Follow posted dog-park rules and vaccination expectations. - Core stop. Memorial Park and Riverside Park - Dogs welcome on leash; off-leash is not allowed on general park grounds. - Memorial Park is a calm riverside lawn, not a dog park. A quarter-mile lap of the oval walkway makes a good leashed walk; it is part of your park time, not the 2.9 mile loop. Core stop. - Riverside Park is a recommended leashed add-on; use John Gorrie nearby for fenced off-leash. Optional: add it to your outing if you like; once added, it counts as a stop to check in at. Southern Grounds & Co, Brooklyn (recommended brunch stop) - 400 Riverside Avenue, on the way back toward Forest Street. Open daily from 6:30 in the morning. - Dog-friendly, with a large covered patio; confirm seating and hours before you go. - Recommended coffee and brunch stop. Optional: add it to your outing if you like; once added, it counts as a stop to check in at. John Gorrie Dog Park - Free JaxParks fenced off-leash yard on the Riverside Park campus, sunrise to sunset. No membership required. - Core stop. Kanine Social (College Street), Choice - Park play requires an account plus membership or day pass and current vaccines. - Taproom side is on-leash and more public-facing. - Afternoons and evenings are the published park-and-taproom window (later weekend openings). - Choice only: add it to your outing if you already have access or plan a day pass; once added, it counts as a stop to check in at. Safety (not a stop) - Forever Vets Animal Hospital at Riverside on College Street offers limited urgent clinic-hour coverage (not overnight ER). Keep (904) 204-2191 for clinic hours only. Heat - Bring water. Prefer morning dog-park time before pavement and turf heat peak.
