Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park

Step into more than 450 years of history at the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park, a 15 acre waterfront attraction marking the site where Pedro Menéndez de Avilés established St. Augustine in 1565. Wander beneath moss covered oaks as you explore archaeological discoveries, recreated Timucuan village structures, living history demonstrations, a blacksmith exhibit and the legendary Spring House.

Follow the 600 foot observation deck across the marsh for sweeping views of Matanzas Bay, watch historic cannon demonstrations and stop for food and drinks at the onsite restaurant. Colorful peacocks roam freely throughout the property, adding another memorable sight to the adventure.

Leashed dogs are welcome throughout the park, making this one of St. Augustine’s best historic attractions to explore with your pup. Keep dogs close and under control around the resident peacocks. Plan approximately two hours for a comfortable visit.
