Green Mountain Scenic Overlook & Trailhead

Green Mountain Scenic Overlook & Trailhead offers one of Central Florida’s most distinctive elevated views, overlooking Lake Apopka and, on clear days, the distant Orlando skyline. A 130 foot elevated boardwalk leads from the parking area to a 20 by 20 foot observation platform, providing an easy scenic stop for photography, birdwatching and enjoying the surrounding landscape.

For a longer adventure, a winding switchback trail descends from the overlook to the Lake Apopka Loop Trail. This extensive trail system follows the restored wetlands along Lake Apopka’s northern shoreline and is open to hiking and bicycling. The surrounding Lake Apopka North Shore is considered one of Florida’s premier inland birding areas, with more than 370 recorded bird species. Visitors may also encounter alligators, turtles, otters, raccoons, armadillos and other native wildlife.

Leashed dogs are welcome, but owners should keep them close and remain alert around wildlife. The site includes free parking, restrooms, educational displays and a covered picnic pavilion.
